Dongbu Corporation said on the 2nd that it won the "154kV Chocheong–Boeun transmission line (T/L) construction project (Section 1)," ordered under the comprehensive evaluation bidding system by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), marking its first order of the year.
The project will build a 154kV transmission line with a total length of 22.558 km across Boeun County, North Chungcheong Province, and includes tower foundation and assembly/erection, conductor stringing, and installation of transmission facilities, as well as all permitting, environmental, and safety management. The construction period is 31 months from the start date, and the total project cost is 47.4 billion won, with Dongbu Corporation serving as the lead contractor.
This project is a grid expansion initiative to proactively respond to the expansion of industrial complexes and rising residential power demand in North Chungcheong Province. By constructing a new transmission line, it aims to resolve system bottlenecks and build a redundant grid structure that can ensure stable power supply even during outages or maintenance. It is expected to reliably support industrial and residential electricity demand in the Cheongju–Boeun area and strengthen the power infrastructure base with mid- to long-term regional development in mind.
A Dongbu Corporation official said, "This project is a core infrastructure construction directly tied to the stability of the national power supply and demand, making construction quality and safety management paramount," and added, "Leveraging our accumulated transmission line construction experience and proven technical capabilities, we will do our utmost to ensure responsible construction and help bolster the competitiveness of the power infrastructure in the central region."
