SK ecoplant has added the manufacturing of industrial gases and chemical substances and products to its business scope. It appears to be to ramp up its artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure business.
According to the construction industry on the 26th, SK ecoplant held an extraordinary shareholders meeting on the 14th and approved an amendment to its articles of incorporation to newly add five business purposes: ▲ facility lending business ▲ machinery and equipment manufacturing and rental business ▲ research and development business ▲ industrial gas manufacturing business ▲ chemical substances and products manufacturing business.
This is a follow-up measure after SK ecoplant incorporated four companies that produce semiconductor materials—SK trichem, SK resonac, SK materials jnc, and SK materials performance—as subsidiaries at the end of last year. By expanding its business scope, it appears to have laid the groundwork for corporations in advanced industrial materials such as semiconductors and batteries.
A SK ecoplant official said it is "to lay the groundwork to leap forward as an AI infrastructure solution provider and to secure growth and stability based on new businesses."
