GS Engineering & Construction will create a "2026 Seoul International Garden Expo" corporations companion garden in Seoul Forest with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
GS Engineering & Construction and the Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 23rd that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at Seosomun 2 Government Complex in City Hall to create a corporations companion garden in Seoul Forest in Seongdong District. The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Young-hwan, head of the Garden City Bureau of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Lee Yong-gu, head of architecture and dwellings design at GS Engineering & Construction.
They said the agreement is meaningful in that the public and private sectors joined forces to expand green space in the city center and create a garden environment where citizens can relax in their daily lives.
Under the agreement, GS Engineering & Construction plans to create a tentatively titled "Elysian Forest," applying Xi's landscaping concept around the lawn plaza in Seoul Forest in Seongdong District. It will be designed based on Xi's signature garden concept inspired by the naturalness and ecological scenery of Jeju Gotjawal.
The garden will be created as an urban rest garden that maintains the open landscape around the lawn plaza in Seoul Forest and includes natural circulation paths and rest areas. After completion, it is expected to serve as a green rest space that citizens can use in the city center.
GS Engineering & Construction said it plans to do its utmost so that this corporations companion garden will take root as a garden in harmony with Seoul Forest and become a space that citizens will continue to love.
