Minister Kim Yun-duk of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 23rd encouraged working-level staff at the Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) who contributed to supplying dwellings in urban areas by purchasing more than 50,000 purchase-rental dwellings last year.
The Minister attended the "Protagonists of the housing ladder: purchase-rental communication workshop" held the morning of the same day at the Daejeon ICC Convention Hall and met the practitioners who have led the purchase-rental program in the field. LH achieved a record-high performance last year of 51,000 purchase-rental dwellings: 49,000 newly built purchases and 2,000 existing-building purchases.
At the event, the Minister said, "The stability of the dwellings market comes from speed and a sense of responsibility on the ground," and added, "I am truly pleased to be here to celebrate the achievement of a record 51,000 purchase-rental dwellings, the fruit of your efforts steadily built up in the field."
At this event, awards were given to managers who achieved outstanding results in areas such as purchases and groundbreakings by regional headquarters. The Minister also spent time communicating with the awardees and directly listened to the difficulties working-level staff faced during the promotion of the purchase-rental program.
The Minister encouraged them by saying, "Do not fear the aftereffects for decisions made in line with policy intent; face your duties with confidence, looking only to the people," adding, "Your results are flowing into the daily lives of the people."
At the same time, the Minister emphasized, "Accepting the public's standards and orienting ourselves toward the people is the destiny of those with the character 'public' in their titles—those of you in public institutions and I as a public official."
