A 35-story, 1,760-household mega apartment complex will be built in Jeonnong District 8 near Cheongnyangni Station in Seoul's Dongdaemun District.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 16th that at the 1st integrated review committee for urban renewal projects on the 15th, it conditionally approved reviews in the fields of architecture, landscape, traffic, education, environment, parks, and disaster management related to the "Jeonnong-Dapsimni redevelopment promotion district Jeonnong District 8 housing redevelopment and maintenance project." Accordingly, Jeonnong District 8 will supply dwellings across 11 buildings, from five floors underground to 35 floors above ground, totaling 1,760 households (including 351 rental households).
Through public contributions, public sports facilities and a park needed for the area will also be created. On the north side of the site, a park the size of a soccer field (about 6,700㎡) will be created to expand green space, and resident convenience facilities such as fitness equipment and rest areas will be provided. A public parking lot will also be built underground beneath the park.
On the south side, everyday sports facilities such as a swimming pool, fitness center, and multipurpose gym will be built. The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to proceed with approvals for the project implementation plan and the management and disposal plan in consultation with the district office.
At the meeting the previous day, the integrated review for the Cheonho District 3-2 housing redevelopment-type project was also conditionally approved. Accordingly, in Cheonho District 3-2 of Gangdong District (around 397-419 Cheonho-dong), an apartment complex with 421 households and a public parking lot will be built.
A complex of six buildings from three floors underground to 23 floors above ground will house a total of 421 apartments (including 74 rental households). A 77-space public parking lot and neighborhood living facilities will also be established. Inside the complex, a public pedestrian passage will be created to improve commuting conditions for students of the nearby Cheonil Elementary School.
At the same meeting, the architecture and education review plan for the "Yangjae Market market maintenance project" in the area of 1-7 Yangjae-dong, Seocho District, was also conditionally approved. Yangjae Market, established in 1988 as a building-type traditional market, had been a core commercial area, but as it aged, vacancy rates rose and foot traffic fell, weakening its competitiveness.
With passage by the integrated review committee, Yangjae Market is expected to be developed into a mixed-use commercial building combining neighborhood living facilities, retail, and office facilities from four floors underground to 10 floors above ground. It is expected to receive project implementation approval in the first half of this year. Restaurants and cafes will be placed on the first floor to secure continuity with the existing Maljukgeori commercial district and promote commercial revitalization.
From the second floor up, lifestyle service facilities will be introduced to enhance convenience for residents. As a public-contribution facility, a multipurpose community space with a total floor area of 231.06㎡ will be created on the second floor above ground. It will also be used as a meeting room and an education space.
