Daewoo E&C consortium took part in the rebidding for construction of the new Gadeokdo airport in Gangseo District, Busan.
On the 16th, according to the construction industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Daewoo E&C consortium submitted prequalification (PQ) documents the previous day for the rebidding of the land development work for the new Gadeokdo airport. Twenty-three companies joined the consortium, including Hanwha's construction division, HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, Kolon Global, Dongbu Corporation, Kumho E&C, BS Hanyang, and Jungheung Construction.
In Oct. 2024, a Hyundai Engineering & Construction consortium was selected as the preferred bidder after submitting the sole bid for the new Gadeokdo airport construction. However, due to differences over extending the construction period and adjusting construction costs, Hyundai Engineering & Construction decided to abandon the project in May last year, leading to this rebidding.
In a rebidding notice on the 29th of last month, the government extended the construction period from the original 84 months to 106 months and raised the construction cost from the initial 10.53 trillion won to 10.7175 trillion won.
