According to Hoban Group on the 15th, Kim made the remarks the previous day at the "2026 New Year strategy meeting" held at Restree Resom in Jecheon, North Chungcheong, citing "Pivot or Die," a book by Gary Shapiro, CEO of CES, the world's largest IT and home appliance exhibition.
Kim emphasized, "Leaders, as the agents of change and innovation, must take on challenges with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility to achieve new innovative results and a hopeful future."
At the New Year strategy meeting, convened to review future business strategy and strengthen resolve for bold execution, more than 260 Hoban Group executives and employees attended, including Chair Kim; Vice Chair Lee Jeong-ho of Hoban Hotel & Resort; President Park Cheol-hee of Hoban Construction; General Planning President Kim Dae-heon of Hoban Group; and Vice President Kim Min-seong of Hoban Group.
This year's New Year strategy meeting placed groupwide AI transition, open innovation, and responses to changes in government policy on the main agenda.
In particular, a breakout discussion on how to use AI to raise productivity across the organization continued late into the night in a "no-limits debate" format. The group discussed in depth a strategic direction to actively respond to rapidly changing industrial structures driven by advances in AI technology, including discovering business models that incorporate new technologies and turning changes in government policy into opportunities.
Based on the discussions at the strategy meeting, Hoban Group plans to strengthen fundamental business competitiveness and build an efficient work system using AI.
The New Year strategy meeting also featured special lectures on the AI industry and leadership for group management and affiliates' leaders. Professor Lee Kyung-jeon, an AI and big data expert, explained corporations' response strategies in the AI era, and communication expert Director Kim Yun-na was invited to teach the language skills leaders should have.
A Hoban Group official said, "We will strengthen execution across the organization to achieve real change and take another leap forward," adding, "We will continue to grow as corporations that contribute to the nation and society."
