Gyeryong Construction said on the 9th that it successfully completed the Dauntrey Dam in Cambodia seven years after breaking ground.

The Dauntrey Dam is a project ordered in 2018 by the Cambodia Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology. It is a rock-fill dam located upstream of the Dauntrey River in Battambang Province in northwestern Cambodia, standing 47 meters high and 654 meters long. Its effective storage capacity reaches about 132.5 million tons (t), and it is designed to supply about 264 million t of water annually.

The area where the Dauntrey Dam is located has high agricultural productivity, with fertile rice paddies and mild climate conditions. However, frequent floods and droughts caused by recent abnormal weather, along with the absence of a systematic water resources management plan, have continuously burdened not only lives and property but also the local economy.

With the completion of the Dauntrey Dam securing flood control functions, it is expected to effectively reduce flood damage in downstream areas. In addition, by providing a stable water supply, it is expected to boost the agricultural productivity of downstream farmlands and make a significant contribution to resolving the recurring water shortages in northwestern Cambodia.

A Gyeryong Construction official said, "This project was carried out as part of economic cooperation between Korea and Cambodia, and it is significant in that it sought to invigorate the local economy by expanding water resources infrastructure and establishing a stable water management system," and added, "Based on our accumulated experience in executing overseas projects, technological capabilities, and management competence, we will continue to expand Gyeryong Construction's business domain in the global market."
