Oh Se-hoon, the Seoul mayor, on the 2nd visited the reconstruction site of Yuwon Jeil Phase 1 in Dangsan-dong, Yeongdeungpo District, as his first schedule of the new year to check the status of safety management.
The Yuwon Jeil Phase 1 reconstruction project broke ground in Aug. 2024, with completion targeted for 2028. The supply scale is 550 dwellings, including 71 rental units.
Oh said, "After making painstaking efforts to revitalize dwellings supply, we have reached a point where the plan to start construction on 310,000 units by 2031 can be realized," and added, "As the number of maintenance project sites increases, the likelihood of blind spots in safety management grows, so please implement on-site safety rules more thoroughly." He continued, "Seoul City will also join forces to minimize safety accidents at dwellings supply sites."
The Seoul city government in 2023 introduced a "video record management system" for safety management at construction sites. As of Sept. last year, it is recording and managing the entire construction process on video at 56 maintenance project sites in Seoul (about 45,000 units).
