Sampyo Group will significantly expand the scope of its safety culture to partner companies this year. It plans to raise safety maturity another notch by extending the framework of systematic safety management—established last year through on-site leadership by executives and system advancement—into win-win cooperation with partner companies.
Sampyo Group said on the 2nd that at the recently held "2025 fourth-quarter executive safety session," it set next year's slogan as "Safety together, a companion of value." This is a strong expression of its will for headquarters and partner companies to level up safety standards and achieve the shared goal of "zero industrial accidents."
Sampyo Group plans to broaden the proven, executive-led safety activity model from the past year to partner companies and, through joint inspections and technical support, raise partners' safety capabilities to the level of headquarters.
Sampyo Group designated last year as the first year of strengthening safety capabilities and focused on on-site, practical activities. It carried out "executive safety observation activities (VFL, Visible Felt Leadership)," in which executives directly identified potential on-site risks and led improvements.
Executive safety observation activities (VFL) go beyond simple site visits to embed a safety culture as leaders communicate with workers. CEOs of affiliates and institutional sector heads visit business sites to diagnose risk factors through one-on-one coaching and derive practical solutions.
Starting with Sampyo Industry, executives across all group affiliates—including SAMPYO Cement, Sampyo P&C, Sampyo Railway, Sampyo Remicon, and SP Nature (CEOs and institutional sector heads)—held in-depth discussions with on-site workers based on risk assessments and sought safety measures.
Restructuring the safety and health management system is also a remarkable achievement. Sampyo Group reestablished safety and health manuals and guidelines used companywide to meet the global standard. Through this, it fully revised and established a total of 137 safety and health management system documents and ensured that the same advanced level of safety system is applied to all divisions and business sites.
The "safety small groups," which encourage voluntary on-site participation, greatly contributed to establishing a self-disciplinary prevention system. These groups are small, worker-centered units that proactively identify and improve hazards and risks in the workplace.
In June, the group held its first "safety small group best practices competition" with participation from all affiliates. A total of 228 groups competed fiercely, and by selecting and awarding outstanding groups among the six teams that made the finals, the event heightened on-site safety awareness.
The "regional safety sessions" to strengthen the practical capabilities of on-site safety personnel were also run substantively. Divided by region—Seoul metropolitan area, Gyeongsang area, and Chungcheong–Jeolla area—these sessions were conducted in the first and second halves, and featured an efficient program combining theory training, site visits, and best-practice sharing.
A Sampyo Group official said, "The past year was a meaningful time in which we laid the cornerstone of 'safety management' through executive-led example and a structured system," adding, "This year, we will focus all our capabilities on realizing the true meaning of 'safety together' so that this solid system can be sublimated into a corporate culture for the entire group, including partner companies."
