Minister Kim Yun-duk of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport marked the 2026 New Year by expressing a determination to make it "the first year of a leap forward for Korea's land and transport."
The Minister on the 1st posted a message with this content on her social media (SNS) Facebook account.
The Minister said, "Building on the foundation for growth laid over the past six months, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will lead balanced development of the national territory and achieve housing stability," and added, "While carefully attending to convenience in mobility and daily life, we will also responsibly prepare future growth engines such as Autonomous Driving and a recovery in the construction industry."
She went on to say, "Above all, we will do our utmost so that safety and fairness can take root in our society." She also said, "Like the vigor of a horse galloping unrestrained across the land, I hope this year becomes one in which we vigorously open new paths."
The Minister the previous day paid respects at the Seoul National Cemetery with President Lee Jae-myung. At the site, the Minister said she reaffirmed her resolve to make 2026 the first year of a leap forward in land and transport.
At 9 a.m. on the 2nd, the Minister will attend the government kickoff ceremony held at the main auditorium of Building 6 of the Government Complex Sejong. Afterward, she will hold a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport kickoff ceremony and exchange New Year's greetings with staff.
