Seoul said it will begin accepting applications Jan. 15-16 for tenant recruitment for the "Mirinae House-linked public hanok" for newlyweds.
Seoul said on the 29th it will supply seven units of the "Mirinae House-linked public hanok" in Jongno District and Seongbuk District. The notice is set for the 30th, and applications will be accepted Jan. 15-16.
The public hanok units will be supplied at six locations in Jongno District and one in Seongbuk District. The exteriors are hanok, but all interiors have been remodeled in a modern style. Rents are set at 60% to 70% of market rates, following the Newlyweds/Newborn Purchase-Lease Housing II method. Through the mutual conversion system, households can adjust the ratio of lease deposit and monthly rent to fit their funding plans, and if a child is born during residency, they will receive priority to apply for a "long-term jeonse housing" after 10 years of residence.
Gahoe-dong No. 1 in Jongno District (35-2 Gahoe-dong) is a consolidation of a hanok and a Western-style house, with front and back yards that allow outdoor activities, and the spacious attic space atop the Western-style house stimulates children's imagination.
Gye-dong No. 2 (2-39 Gye-dong), the smallest studio-type hanok, is ideal for households seeking a minimal lifestyle. Gye-dong No. 3 (32-10 Gye-dong) is located inside a dense residential area and is quiet, with a small garden plot in the yard.
Wonso-dong No. 4 (24 Wonso-dong), with four rooms, three bathrooms, a basement family room, and a garden, is the largest among the hanok being supplied this time, and applicants who qualify as a "three-generation or larger extended family" will be selected first.
The next-largest, Pilun-dong No. 6 (180-1 Pilun-dong), features three rooms, two bathrooms, and a multipurpose room arranged with a modern sensibility, and likewise gives priority to applicants who are a "three-generation or larger extended family."
Wonso-dong No. 5 (38 Wonso-dong), which faces the wall of Changdeokgung Palace, lets residents view the rear garden's landscaping trees as if they were in their own yard, and has hanok elements well in place, including small garden plots and a jangdokdae in the front and back yards.
Bomun-dong No. 7 in Seongbuk District (41-17 Bomun-dong 6-ga) is in a general residential area where apartments and single-family homes coexist, offering good access to neighborhood commercial areas. One room and a bathroom are separated as an annex, allowing the space to be used independently as a study, playroom, or guest room.
Considering practical questions and interest in hanok and hanok living, the city will hold an on-site open house from Jan. 7 to 14 (except Sunday), allowing free tours of the seven hanok slated for supply. Living platforms including Ohouse will participate in interior home styling to present a model house-like staging. On the 12th, a briefing session will be held at Wonso-dong No. 4.
Details on the Mirinae House-linked public hanok tenant recruitment can be checked and applied for through the Seoul Hanok Portal and the Seoul Housing and Urban Development Corporation website.
Choi Jin-seok, head of Seoul's dwellings bureau, said, "Starting in 2027, we will steadily supply about 10 houses per village in connection with the new hanok village development project, and work to ensure housing stability for newlyweds and reflect diverse tastes and lifestyles."
