IS Dongseo said on the 23rd it will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) technology to concrete mix design and production processes at its Icheon plant (Bubal-eup, Icheon, Gyeonggi), which produces precast concrete (PC) products.
PC is concrete manufactured in a factory in advance. Compared with reinforced concrete (RC) construction, which requires on-site casting and curing, it allows faster construction and is not affected by weather during installation, so it has recently been cited in the construction industry as a representative eco-friendly, off-site method applied to logistics centers, underground parking lots, and semiconductor plants.
The "slump AI system" for concrete mix design in the AI autonomous production system receives the mix code from the slump (the consistency of fresh concrete) mixer and weighs raw materials, and by reading slump according to differences in type and capacity to reduce variation in the concrete's consistency, it can secure workability and stably manage compressive strength, keeping production quality uniform.
In addition, by equipping a worker-recognition function inside the mixer, it prevents safety accidents, and by introducing a temperature measurement system for mixing concrete, it can also prevent product cracking and freezing through temperature management of concrete by season.
An IS Dongseo official said, "Through this AI technology introduction, we will expand Fourth Industrial Revolution smart factory innovations and quality enhancement efforts in concrete manufacturing processes, while also working to secure ESG technology by reducing carbon emissions."
