The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Vice Minister Kim Ei-tak presided over the second "housing market and supply measures review meeting" on the 22nd to closely manage the progress of key policies in the dwellings and land sectors, including follow-up measures for the Sept. 7 plan to expand dwellings supply.
The meeting is a biweekly body chaired by the Vice Minister, based on the recognition that ensuring the seamless promotion of tasks to expand dwellings supply is more important than anything else for stabilizing people's housing, and it launched on the 8th. Attendees included the director general for housing and land, the housing policy director, the land policy director, the head of the public housing promotion team, the head of the housing policy division, the head of the land policy division, and the head of the public housing site planning division.
At the meeting, they first reviewed the implementation status of tasks related to housing site supply among the follow-up measures to the Sept. 7 package. Briefed on plans to break ground on more than 50,000 homes in public housing sites in the Seoul metropolitan area and to introduce a package system to accelerate compensation, the Vice Minister said, "Make every effort to manage the project so that groundbreaking can proceed without a hitch on schedule, and inform the public in detail about specific project timelines, including compensation, groundbreaking, and sales."
After reviewing plans to accelerate supply in southern Seoul (Seoripul in Seocho-gu and the Gwacheon district in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi) and future schedules, the Vice Minister also emphasized communication, saying, "The success or failure of the project depends on managing conflicts through sufficient dialogue with stakeholders."
The Vice Minister then reviewed next year's plan to push forward urban public dwellings complex projects. He emphasized, "Since urban public dwellings complex projects are an effective policy tool for expanding urban supply, let's strengthen cooperation with the National Assembly to abolish the sunset clause," while also saying, "Let's further boost the pace of ongoing projects in cooperation with the LH special headquarters for dwellings supply."
The Vice Minister was also briefed on the progress of activities by the LH Reform Committee, launched on Aug. 28, and asked, "Please spare no necessary support so that discussions on LH reform plans through the LH Reform Committee can proceed quickly."
In addition, after reviewing the progress of various tasks, the Vice Minister concluded the review meeting by encouraging officials, saying, "If we dispel the public's doubts about supply through swift follow-up measures to supply policies and instill confidence in future supply, it could also contribute to market stability," and "Next year as well, let's all policy officials in the dwellings and land sectors unite and push ahead unwaveringly with follow-up measures to the supply policies."
