SK ecoplant said on the 21st that it received the top AAA rating in the 2025 Fair Trade Compliance Program (CP) rating evaluation hosted by the Fair Trade Commission.
With this award, SK ecoplant has recorded an AAA rating for three consecutive years from 2023 to this year. Since the Korea Fair Trade Commission (FTC) introduced the CP rating evaluation system in 2006, this is the first time among evaluation-targeted corporations to receive the top rating for three consecutive years.
CP is an internal compliance system that corporations establish and operate on their own to comply with fair trade-related laws, introduced by the Korea Fair Trade Commission (FTC) in 2001 to spread compliance management. Since 2006, the Korea Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has evaluated the operation status and performance of corporations that have introduced and are operating CP and has assigned ratings every year.
The evaluation comprehensively considers items such as establishing CP operation policies for corporations, active support from the CEO, education and training programs for members, and building an internal monitoring system. Excellent corporations with a rating of AA or higher receive incentives such as reductions in the penalty surcharge and exemptions from ex officio investigations.
Since first introducing CP in 2008, SK ecoplant has established clear operating standards and procedures, continuously strengthened its internal monitoring system, and checked for legal violations in advance and afterward. CP operations are independently run through the Compliance Office, an organization directly under the chief executive officer (CEO), and the performance of whether CP is functioning effectively is periodically evaluated and reported to top management on a quarterly basis.
In addition, to solidify compliance management across all in-house areas, including quality, environment, and information protection as well as fair trade, the company regularly inspects compliance risks and continuously strengthens control levels through the operation of a Compliance Management System (CMS) that can integrally manage all corporate compliance activities. After introducing an IT-based CMS platform, it established an early detection system for compliance risks across all business areas through continuous operational advancement, and based on this, it first obtained certification for ISO37301, the international standard for compliance management systems, in 2023 and has maintained it to date.
To strengthen the substance of compliance management, the company is also taking the lead in establishing a compliance culture in-house. Every year, all executives and employees, including the CEO, sign a fair trade voluntary compliance pledge, and the company continues to conduct training to raise compliance awareness and prevent legal violations through work guides on major laws, violation cases, and voluntary compliance manuals.
