The Seoul city government said on the 15th that Ok-in No. 1 public parking lot, pushed to resolve parking shortages and a lack of sports facilities in the Ogin-dong area of Jongno-gu, will open in January next year. The project is part of Human Town 2.0 to expand essential infrastructure in low-rise, aging residential areas.
Ok-in No. 1 public parking lot has secured a total of 90 parking spaces from four basement levels to the first floor above ground, and the second floor above ground houses the Ogin Sports Center and a rooftop multipurpose athletic field. The rooftop is equipped with a small athletic field and a walking track so that any local resident can freely enjoy exercise and rest. The total floor area is 4,997 square meters.
Back in 2019, the Seoul city government designated this area as a residential environment improvement zone and has pursued a community social overhead capital (SOC) complex project. Construction began in 2022, and the complex facility was completed.
The Seoul city government plans to secure an additional 24 public parking spaces by 2027 in connection with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's New Village flagship project.
Choi Jin-seok, head of the Seoul city government's housing bureau, said, "Through the Human Town 2.0 project, the renovation of low-rise dwellings in Ogin-dong will be revitalized and the supply of everyday SOC will accelerate," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that residents can enjoy a pleasant and convenient living environment."
