Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) said on the 14th that it opened a "safety and health center" in the Wangsuk public housing district in Namyangju, Gyeonggi.
The safety and health center is an on-site, integrated safety management hub that supports health checkups, emergency treatment, welfare, and hands-on safety training for workers who are permanently stationed at construction sites.
A health manager will be stationed at the center and will be solely responsible for worker health management, including health and medical support linked to on-site safety, emergency response, and checkups. Inside, there will be facilities including ◇ a health checkup room and emergency medical room ◇ emergency care training facilities such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation ◇ a rest area exclusively for workers.
To ensure continued use, the safety and health center was designed with a modular structure that is easy to install and dismantle. The Namyangju safety and health center, which opened its doors for the first time, will operate for three years for workers in the Namyangju Wangsuk district and will then be reinstalled in nearby project districts.
Starting with the Namyangju safety and health center, LH plans to expand the program to major project districts in third new towns, such as Goyang Changneung and Bucheon Daejang, after 2026.
Lee Sang-jo, head of LH's Smart Construction Safety Headquarters, said, "The safety and health center is the first integrated health facility by a public corporation that can perform everything in one place, from on-site emergency treatment to health checkups," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create a working environment that can protect the health and safety of construction workers."
