Ssangyong E&C recently won a contract for a large hospital project ordered by the Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH: Ministry Of Health).
Ssangyong E&C said on the 9th that it formed a joint venture (JV) with a Japanese company (Shimizu) and a Singaporean company (Kimly) and won the contract for the Alexandra hospital outpatient ward (Outpatient Ward) project, worth about $580 million (about 800 billion won).
Ssangyong E&C holds about 40% equity in the JV (about $230 million, about 340 billion won).
Ssangyong E&C said it formed a JV to win the outpatient ward project—three floors underground to 12 floors above ground, with examination rooms, clinics, offices, and a four-story parking lot—and, after competing with a Chinese company, succeeded in securing the contract.
A Ssangyong E&C official said, "Overcoming the spread of COVID-19, we proved our construction and management capabilities for high-difficulty hospital projects through the WHC (Woodlands Health Campus) project, which was completed six years after groundbreaking," and added, "Through the top-tier WHC project, the client evaluated the construction quality as high, which led to the award of the Alexandra hospital project."
Ssangyong E&C has a track record of building advanced medical facilities totaling about 12,000 beds worldwide. In Singapore, following Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 1998, New K.K Hospital in 1999, and WHC last year, the company was awarded the construction of Alexandra hospital this year as well.
