XiGEIST, a subsidiary of GS Engineering and Construction, unveiled Dream Forest, an employee dormitory complex built with timber modular construction at the Elysian Gangchon resort in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. Modular refers to a method in which the core parts of dwellings are prefabricated in a factory and then assembled on-site like Lego.
XiGEIST said on Jan. 8 that to mark the completion of the timber modular dormitory complex Dream Forest, it invited about 50 resort heads and officials from Gangwon Province and the greater Seoul area to Elysian Gangchon on the 5th to promote modular dwellings.
The Dream Forest dormitory, built using a modular method, consists of 13 two-story buildings with a total of 91 rooms. By conducting factory production of modules in parallel with on-site installation, the completion period was significantly shortened, and low-noise, low-dust work could be carried out even during resort operations, minimizing the impact on operations. It also features a design that maximizes natural light and ventilation.
A XiGEIST official said, "We will develop practical, use-centered modular solutions and present models that can apply modular construction to various types, including resorts, detached dwellings, and lodging-type buildings."
