Dongbu Corporation said on the 4th that it recently completed the Jeonbuk National University student town reconstruction project.
The project was ordered by Edumac (Education Facility Environment Research Center) as a build-transfer-lease (BTL) project. It created a complex convenience, culture, and learning space spanning one basement level to four above-ground floors on the Jeonbuk National University campus.
The student town added daily convenience facilities such as a bank, bookstore, and cafe, as well as a job consulting center, health clinic, and multipurpose auditorium, strengthening education support functions.
Jeonbuk National University held an opening ceremony for the student town on the 3rd, attended by President Yang O-bong of Jeonbuk National University, CEO Yun Jin-o of Dongbu Corporation, and other officials.
A Dongbu Corporation official said the company worked to realize the value of mutual growth with the local community during the creation of the student town by expanding cooperation with local companies, improving major campus circulation routes, and contributing to campus revitalization.
Dongbu Corporation views educational facilities as a core growth axis in public and cultural infrastructure and is expanding related projects. This year, it has also won a string of major educational facility projects, including the new construction of the Dongguk University Lotus Hall, facilities improvement BTL for Jeonbuk National University College of Engineering Building No. 1, and remodeling and expansion/new construction of the Seoul National University Culture Center.
It also carried out projects including the construction of Jeonbuk National University Hospital in Gunsan, the remodeling of the Seoul National University College of Social Sciences and the expansion/new construction of the Korea Economic Innovation Center, and facilities improvement BTL for Jeonbuk National University and two other schools.
A Dongbu Corporation official said, "The Jeonbuk National University student town is a project that raised the region's education and living environment by a notch," adding, "We will continue to do our best to build safe and convenient education infrastructure that can contribute to the development of the local community and educational institutions."
