SK ecoplant is accelerating a growth strategy centered on semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI), further strengthening its comprehensive service capabilities in advanced industries.
SK ecoplant said on the 2nd that it will bring under its umbrella four materials subsidiaries under SK Inc. Materials: ▲ SK trichem ▲ SK resonac ▲ SK materials jnc ▲ SK materials performance. SK Inc. Materials will change its name to SK ecoplant Materials.
With this integration, SK ecoplant has secured a value chain spanning from semiconductor materials to infrastructure. The four newly integrated companies produce advanced materials needed for all semiconductor manufacturing processes—photo, etching gas, deposition, metal wiring, and packaging—as well as key display processes such as OLED deposition. In November last year, SK ecoplant also incorporated the industrial gas company SK Airplus.
Going forward, each subsidiary plans to drive production innovation based on AI and digital transformation (DT) to increase product development speed and quality competitiveness and to strengthen supply chain management (SCM) efficiency. It will also push to expand new material portfolios for HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) and core processes of next-generation semiconductors. It is also expected to be possible to provide optimal solutions by process by combining materials technology with SK ecoplant's experience in building high-tech infrastructure.
SK ecoplant expects this to strengthen growth potential and improve financial stability. The company is expected to benefit from steady growth in the semiconductor materials sector and increased semiconductor facility investment driven by rising demand. In the AI infrastructure space, SK ecoplant is also securing new growth engines by participating in the construction of Korea's first AI data center, "SK AI Data Center Ulsan."
