GS Engineering and Construction said on the 27th that it developed and filed a patent for the "All in One rooftop floor system," a modular floor system for apartment rooftops that enables waterproofing, insulation, and solar power generation at the same time.
Because this system is installed as a floor-type module rather than by mounting solar panels on a steel structure placed over plain concrete, it can secure a large installation area without damaging the insulation and waterproof layers, and it is easy to maintain. In particular, by securing a ventilation layer beneath the module, it can effectively control the rise in module temperature even in hot and humid summer conditions.
In addition, through a dry construction structure based on the "external insulation method above waterproofing," which has been validated in Europe including Germany, it double-protects the waterproof layer to enhance leak prevention performance.
A GS Engineering and Construction official said, "The All in One rooftop floor system, for which we have filed a patent, is an eco-friendly construction method with high utility that, through modular floor construction in a dry structure, reduces leaks and heat loss and secures an energy source using solar heat."
GS Engineering and Construction is currently installing this system on the rooftop of an apartment mock-up made of precast concrete (PC) in Eumseong, North Chungcheong, and is conducting additional demonstrations on waterproofing and insulation effects. Starting with the Seongsu Strategic Maintenance Zone District 1 project, it plans to gradually expand application.
