The Olympic Athletes' Press Village Apartment Reconstruction Promotion Group (Oljaedan), which is pushing a reconstruction project for the Olympic Athletes' Press Village Apartment in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, received approval to establish a reconstruction promotion committee.
According to the maintenance industry on the 19th, on the 18th Songpa-gu approved the establishment of a cooperative establishment promotion committee applied for by the reconstruction promotion group. The promotion group had requested approval from Songpa-gu after securing consent from 2,983 of the total 5,567 land, etc., owners, obtaining 53.58% consent.
The project area covers about 530,000 square meters around 89 Bangi-dong. Yu Sang-geun, chair of the reconstruction promotion committee, said, "After a public notice for inspection of the maintenance plan in November, we plan to hold the first general meeting of residents in January next year," and noted, "We plan to start full-fledged project implementation with the goal of establishing the cooperative next summer."
The Olympic Athletes' Press Village Apartment is considered one of the "three major Olympic complexes," along with Olympic Family Town and Asia Athletes' Village. It was created as accommodations for athletes and reporters during the 1988 Seoul Olympics. It consists of 122 buildings, up to 24 stories above ground, with 5,540 units. The plan is to push reconstruction into a large complex with four basement levels, up to 45 stories, and a total of 9,200 units.
It is close to Olympic Park Station on Seoul Subway Lines 5 and 9, and the newly established Songpa-Hanam Line (Line 3) Hoechon Jungang Station is planned to be located to the southeast of the complex.
