Daewoo E&C said on the 7th that it carried out a reorganization that places the nuclear power business unit, previously under the plant business division, directly under the chief executive officer (CEO).
It said the move is aimed at strengthening the foundation for the company's future growth engines. It also set a plan to build a year-round, project-centered organizational system to enhance execution capabilities at sites in Turkmenistan, a new market, as well as in the Czech Republic and Mozambique.
It expanded and newly established the construction management (CM) organization. The goal is to tighten project management for large domestic civil engineering projects such as the Great Train eXpress (GTX)-B private investment project, the undergrounding of the Dongbu arterial road, and Hongcheon pumped-storage power plant units 1 and 2.
A company official said, "As we are diversifying our portfolio away from the existing dwellings and building-centered structure to domestic social overhead capital (SOC) and infrastructure, nuclear power and renewable energy, and overseas business, we plan to build an organization that fits this."
Under the chief safety officer (CSO), it appointed two executive officers to oversee headquarters and field sites. The move strengthens the safety management control tower function. It also decided to add dedicated staff for on-site inspections to each regional safety team.
To increase investment in artificial intelligence (AI), it created the AX Data Team. The team will oversee companywide AI strategy and will handle AI platform development, companywide data assetization and related infrastructure buildup.
Meanwhile, in this year's executive appointments, it selected outstanding talent based on performance and capabilities. It newly appointed an executive in their 40s and appointed a Director to serve as the AX Data Head of Team.
A company representative said, "While continuing solid management with safety as the top priority, we strengthened the nuclear power organizational base and expanded the smart construction organization."
