Samsung E&A is moving in earnest to target the global hydrogen market by unveiling a new green hydrogen production solution.
Samsung E&A said on the 6th that it unveiled CompassH2-P, a green hydrogen production solution, at ADIPEC 2025 held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 5th local time.
The new CompassH2-P is the industry's first 100-megawatt (MW) cation exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEM)-based green hydrogen production solution and a follow-up product to CompassH2-A, an alkaline water electrolysis (AEC)-based solution revealed in May. CompassH2-P can produce high-pressure (30 barg) and high-purity (99.9995%) hydrogen. A Samsung E&A official said this allows the effective placement of electrolyzer stacks and auxiliary facilities to reduce the plant site footprint.
With this launch, Samsung E&A and Nel have secured both the world's most efficient alkaline electrolysis solution and a PEM solution advantageous for handling load fluctuations in renewable power, enabling them to offer customer- and project-tailored solutions.
CompassH2 provides every stage from pre-feasibility studies for plant construction to engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and quality assurance. Samsung E&A plans to aggressively target the green hydrogen market with differentiated competitiveness that guarantees not only water electrolysis equipment and plant construction but also integrated performance.
At ADIPEC 2025, it also presented collaboration cases with global partners, including a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) solution under development with GIDARA, Johnson Matthey and Honeywell UOP.
Samsung E&A is ramping up new businesses for eco-friendly energy transition, including ammonia, SAF, LNG and carbon capture. Recently, it has secured various eco-friendly energy-related orders, such as a low-carbon ammonia plant in the United States, an SAF plant in Malaysia, a biodegradable plastic plant in the UAE, basic design for an eco-friendly LNG plant in Indonesia, and concept design for LNG in North America.
A Samsung E&A official said, "The launch of CompassH2-P is an important milestone in the mid- to long-term partnership between Nel and Samsung E&A," adding, "We plan to move in earnest to target the global hydrogen market based on a diverse portfolio."
