Samsung C&T's construction division is accelerating efforts to discover new growth engines with innovative Start - Up companies.
Samsung C&T said on Nov. 5 that it held the 2025 FutureScape Demo Day, an open innovation program, at its headquarters in Gangdong District, Seoul, on Nov. 4.
Attendees included DxP head Cho Hye-jung (executive vice president) of Samsung C&T, heads of six Start - Up companies, affiliates such as Samsung Electronics, Samsung Venture Investment, and Samsung Noble Life, the Seoul Business Agency (SBA), and Samsung C&T executives and employees.
FutureScape is a program that discovers Start - Up companies with excellent innovative technologies and ideas and supports scale-ups by providing opportunities for market validation and business partnerships. It is co-hosted by Samsung C&T and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA).
This year, the program operates in two tracks: the Proof Track, which conducts business demonstrations based on collaboration with Samsung C&T, and the Future Track, which jointly develops collaboration models with early-stage Start - Up companies with high potential. In April, about 280 companies applied, and six companies were selected for the Proof Track and six for the Future Track.
At the demo day, six Start - Up companies selected for the Proof Track in June presented their business demonstration results and showcased their products and technologies.
Through the FutureScape program, Samsung C&T is pursuing an open innovation strategy with innovative Start - Up companies that crosses the boundaries of the existing construction industry. To that end, it provides a test-bed to verify the marketability of collaborative business models and secure real customer feedback. It also established an operating system that supports the entire process from business planning to demonstration execution and results analysis.
At the event, Start - Up companies from various fields presented the results of validating business models co-developed with Samsung C&T and key takeaways.
Presentations included a pilot of a digital emotional care solution conducted at Samsung Noble County, a senior town, as well as a wellness service that integrated AI-based personalized counseling for volunteers among Samsung C&T headquarters staff. In addition, results of pilots using various innovative technologies such as Edtech and Extended Reality (XR) for Raemian residents and foreign workers at partner companies were shown, along with customer interviews.
An awards session for the top prize was also held. Hihilocal received the award for its collaboration on a foreign worker safety education solution using AI in the Edtech field.
Cho said, "This demo day was a meaningful occasion to share the demonstration results of the six Start - Up companies selected for the FutureScape Proof Track and to broadly discuss collaboration models and future business directions," adding, "Based on what was discussed, we plan to establish new business models that leap beyond the boundaries of the construction industry and create synergy."
