The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 4th that it will hold the "Smart Construction·Safety·Artificial Intelligence (AI) Expo" from the 5th to the 7th of this month at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
Marking its sixth year, the Smart Construction·Safety·AI Expo will be held under the theme "Smart construction with artificial intelligence (AI), toward a safer future."
At the opening event of this expo, an awards ceremony for the Smart Construction Challenge and a startup idea contest will take place. Afterward, a smart construction safety declaration ceremony will also be held. At the safety declaration ceremony, being held for the first time this year, a safety pledge will be made to "complete zero safety accidents by detecting and predicting risk factors at construction sites in advance with advanced equipment such as AI modeling."
In addition, a general meeting of the Smart Construction Alliance will be held. The Smart Construction Alliance is a consultative body in which large, small, and venture corporations that make up the smart construction ecosystem lead operations, with academia, research institutes, and the public sector providing support. At the general meeting, along with a results-sharing session for the Smart Construction Alliance, there will be awards for smart construction leading projects, excellent cases of alliance technology demonstrations, and presentations of 2025 results and 2026 plans.
A space for exhibiting smart technologies has also been prepared. A total of 279 corporations will introduce core technologies in 11 fields—including building information modeling (BIM), off-site construction (OSC), construction automation, smart safety, digital sensing, and big data·platforms—through more than 800 booths.
At the forum hall set up in the exhibition area, four specialized forums will be held under the themes of smart underground safety, smart construction and AI, the future of smart construction opened by robotic technology, and digital transformation of the construction industry using AI.
Kim Yun-duk, Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), said, "This Smart Construction·Safety·AI EXPO is the starting point for realizing safety at construction sites through smart technologies, and, in the AI era, it will serve as an opportunity to seek a shift to a new paradigm that our construction industry should pursue," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to gather with various experts and corporations in the construction field to discuss a future vision for the construction industry and do our best to make it an attractive sector that draws talented young people."
