EUGENE Corporation and Tongyang, affiliates of Eugene Group, have obtained official certification for concrete crack control technology using latex, the first in Korea's ready-mixed concrete industry.
EUGENE Corporation and Tongyang said on the 27th that "latex press concrete (SmartCon Cover)" has obtained "Concrete Technology Certification (KCIC 25-009)" from the Korea Concrete Institute.
From January to September this year, EUGENE Corporation and Tongyang shipped more than 80,000 ㎥ of "latex press concrete" from about 90 sites nationwide. The main applications are places prone to cracking, such as rooftop floors, machine rooms, and underground parking lots. In the field, "latex press concrete" showed improved crack-reduction performance compared with conventional fiber reinforcement or wire mesh reinforcement methods. In particular, it achieved a crack reduction rate of more than 80% compared with fiber reinforcement materials.
The core of this technology is to mix latex particles into the concrete to form a continuous film that suppresses microcracks in the concrete caused by drying and shrinkage. The Korea Concrete Institute evaluated that "latex press concrete" significantly improves both crack resistance and waterproofing, offering strong protection for rooftop slabs and drainage layers in underground parking lots.
An official at the EUGENE Corporation Technology Research Institute said, "This technology certification is significant in that it officially recognizes the latex-based concrete manufacturing technology of EUGENE Corporation and Tongyang," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our special concrete (SmartCon) lineup, including high-durability concrete, to help improve quality at construction sites and reduce defects."
