Doosan Engineering & Construction Co. said on the 27th it won contracts in succession for the "Nongso–Gangdong road construction (Section 2)" and the "154 kilovolt (kV) Namchuncheon–Chuncheon power tunnel construction."
The "Nongso–Gangdong road construction" is one of the largest road projects in Ulsan's history and is expected to connect to the Ulsan Outer Ring Road, helping improve east–west traffic in the Ulsan area.
With Sections 1, 3, and 4 already underway among the four total sections, Doosan Engineering & Construction Co. signed the Section 2 contract on the 24th. The total construction cost for the "Nongso–Gangdong road construction (Section 2)" is 101.9 billion won, of which Doosan Engineering & Construction Co.'s equity is 81.6 billion won (80%). The construction period is 63 months from the start date.
Doosan Engineering & Construction Co. won the "154kV Namchuncheon–Chuncheon power tunnel construction," ordered by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), on the 14th. The project will build a new power tunnel along a total length of 6,550 m, of which 1,333 m will be constructed as a mechanically excavated tunnel. The total construction cost is 56.4 billion won, and Doosan Engineering & Construction Co.'s equity is 39.5 billion won (70%). The construction period is 27 months from the start date.
Doosan Engineering & Construction Co. has carried out power tunnel projects in several regions since starting the "Gwangyang–Yeosu power tunnel construction" in 2018. The latest award is the company's seventh power tunnel project.
Beyond power tunnels, Doosan Engineering & Construction Co. is delivering results across various civil engineering fields, including railways, subways, and roads. As the lead company for the Shinbundang Line, Korea's first privately proposed driverless heavy metro, it handled the entire process from route planning to design and construction, and has been responsible for operations after completion through its subsidiary Neotrans.
It also took part in major national civil works such as the Gyeongbu high-speed railway, the Suseo–Pyeongtaek SRT, and the Honam high-speed railway. Recently, it has been participating in subway projects nationwide, including the Byeollae Line (Line 8 extension) and the Line 7 Cheongna extension.
Meanwhile, Doosan Engineering & Construction Co. had an order backlog of 9.8 trillion won as of the first half of this year. The backlog is expected to remain around 10 trillion won by year-end.
