Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) said on the 21st that LH Paju Garden (Paju Unjeong Central Park) won the president's award at the 15th Korea Landscape Award ceremony.
The Korea Landscape Award is a prize in the landscape field co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Environmental Landscape Development Foundation. It recognizes outstanding landscape spaces that contribute to creating pleasant urban and regional living environments and improving the quality of life for the public. Winners are selected through a first-round document review, a second-round on-site evaluation, and an online public participation evaluation.
Paju Garden (Paju Unjeong Central Park) is the first project in LH's ongoing urban park initiative, enhancing the colors of nature across the four seasons through a tree-centered garden design method. LH placed a large pavilion and garden facilities of its own design to create a resort-like garden.
The park is planted with a variety of tree species and more than 80,000 herbaceous flowering plants. Seven designer gardens and 11 citizen gardens have been created throughout the park, earning praise for creating a "park that becomes a work," where city and nature, everyday life and art blend.
Park Dong-seon, head of the National Land and City Headquarters, said, "Through the LH urban garden project, we are working to clothe the cities we build with the colors of nature and breathe life into them," adding, "We will continue to capture nature in all four seasons to create a garden city where citizens' daily lives are happy."
