Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) said on the 26th that it held a "Love Rice Sharing Ceremony" at the Busan Hope Dream Center on the 25th, ahead of Chuseok, to donate rice to vulnerable groups in the Busan area.
HUG purchased 4,500 kg of locally produced rice worth 16 million won at "Yongho Alley Market" in Yongho-dong, Nam-gu, Busan, through the Community Chest of Korea, and delivered it to four welfare institutions, including the Busan Hope Dream Center.
The rice delivered that day will be used for free meals for older adults and people experiencing homelessness at each welfare institution, as well as for rice-sharing events.
HUG signed a "one institution–one market sisterhood" agreement with "Yongho Alley Market" in 2020 and has continued purchases to revitalize traditional markets in connection with its social contribution. A HUG official said, "We find it meaningful that donation activities through the purchase of local agricultural products help not only share with vulnerable groups but also promote mutual prosperity among local residents," adding, "We will continue to work to minimize blind spots in community welfare."
