In the real estate market over the past six years, the top 10 buyers by number of purchases bought more than 4,000 dwellings. The purchase amount for these 10 people exceeded 600 billion won.
According to data submitted by Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Min Hong-cheol, a member of the National Assembly's Land Infrastructure and Transport Committee, from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 23rd, the top 1,000 individuals by the number of dwelling purchases from 2020 to June this year bought a total of 37,196 dwellings. The total purchase amount was 4.340675 trillion won.
The dwellings counted were apartments, row houses and multiplex houses, and single- and multi-household houses, and the number of transactions and amounts were calculated based on transactions reported with contract dates from Jan. 1, 2020 to Jun. 30 this year.
Among them, the top 10 buyers purchased 4,115 dwellings, with a purchase amount of 663.906 billion won. The top individual by purchase volume bought 794 units, spending 116.061 billion won. The second bought 693 units (108.209 billion won), the third 666 units (107.442 billion won), the fourth 499 units (59.725 billion won), and the fifth 318 units (48.289 billion won).
In one individual case, a person who signed 30 contracts had a total purchase amount of 49.849 billion won, averaging 1.661 billion won per transaction, suggesting multiple purchases of high-priced dwellings.
Min said, "The real estate market has turned into a gambling ground because of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's policy failures," adding, "It is necessary to block speculative sentiment by stabilizing the real estate market through expanding housing supply."
