The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said it held a meeting to inspect lifestyle accommodation facilities at the Government Complex Sejong on the afternoon of the 22nd, presided over by Vice Minister Lee Sang-gyeong.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and officials from 10 metropolitan and basic local governments, who reviewed the status of efforts to ensure legal use of lifestyle accommodation facilities, checked progress, and discussed items included in the dwellings supply measures.
The Vice Minister said, "Since the support plan for legal use of lifestyle accommodation facilities was announced in October last year, we have completed several institutional improvements, including revising the Building Act. With the grace period set to end at the end of September, please continue to encourage owners until the end so they can convert to legal use."
He added, "As the plan to expand dwellings supply announced on the 7th includes pushing to revise the Building Unit Sale Act to support design changes for lifestyle accommodations under construction, the ministry will also do its best to resolve issues related to lifestyle accommodations."
Regarding the plan for reinforcing fire safety performance at facilities used by vulnerable groups, such as day care centers and hospitals, which is scheduled to end at the end of this year, the Vice Minister asked local governments "to actively push ahead so the projects can be completed without setbacks."
In addition, as part of the fire countermeasures for the Gwangmyeong apartment complex announced on the 3rd, the government will begin projects next year to address fire vulnerabilities in pilotis-type multiunit dwellings, and it requested strong interest and cooperation from local governments.
The Vice Minister emphasized, "Using buildings according to their intended purposes and equipping them with necessary facilities are essential for public safety. Please work to create a safe living environment through continuous inspections and management."
