Cheongju said on the 21st that a consortium made up of POSCO E&C and Ochang Intelligence Park submitted a letter of commitment to participate in the private-sector tender for the Ochang Fourth General Industrial Complex development project.
The city plans to decide whether to select a preferred negotiating partner after reviewing the application if the POSCO E&C consortium formally submits it on the 20th of next month.
The Ochang Fourth Industrial Complex is a project to build a new-industries hub in the central region with a metropolitan transportation network and the functions of a mixed-use new city over more than 3 million square meters in Sinpyeong-ri, Ochang-eup, Cheongju.
A Cheongju City official said, "We will select a private operator with the capacity to maximize the synergy of the Ochang Fourth Industrial Complex in connection with the multipurpose synchrotron radiation accelerator, semiconductors, materials, parts and equipment, the specialized secondary battery complex, and the aviation industry centered on Cheongju International Airport."
