Hyundai E&C will embark on a high-end residential complex development project in New Zealand.
Hyundai E&C said on the 18th that on the 16th it signed an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) agreement titled "early participation by the builder in The Strand dwellings development project" with New Zealand investment operator HND TS (HND) and local construction company CMP Construction (CMP) at Hyundai E&C's headquarters building in Jongno District, Seoul.
At the signing ceremony, key officials from each company attended, including Kim Tae-hee, head of Hyundai E&C's building division, Kim Kyeong-soo, head of Hyundai E&C's global business division, HND Holdings founder Yaxun Zhang, and CMP CEO Ronald Macrae.
The Strand dwellings development project will create a premium mixed residential space with four dwellings buildings ranging from three underground floors to seven–10 above-ground floors, totaling 219 households, near Takapuna Beach in the northeastern part of Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. The project is invested in and developed by HND Holdings, the holding company of HND TS, and aims to build a high-end residential complex in harmony with the local environment.
ECI is a contract method in which the builder participates from the early design stage to derive the best design plan and calculate the optimal schedule and expense. With a focus on technical competition, the builder's capabilities serve as a key factor for successful project execution.
Based on this ECI, Hyundai E&C will collaborate with CMP, a top-tier local construction company in the residential institutional sector, and design firm ASC Architects, leveraging Hyundai E&C's own innovative design and construction know-how specialized for high-end residential spaces. Through K-housing solutions that can be integrated into the local lifestyle—such as community facilities, solar panels, and electric vehicle charging stations—the company plans to present differentiated residential value in New Zealand.
HND Holdings founder Yaxun Zhang and CMP CEO Ronald Macrae, along with other officials, visited Hyundai E&C's The H Gallery, The H Adelstar model house, and The H Daechi Edelweiss.
A Hyundai E&C official said, "As the New Zealand real estate market trend shifts from small and medium-sized low-rise dwellings to large-scale mid-rise dwellings, this project is a symbolic endeavor that can prove Hyundai E&C's dwellings brand competitiveness in New Zealand," adding, "We will lay a solid foundation to establish ourselves in the global dwellings market, including New Zealand."
