Mok-dong New Town complexes 8 and 12 in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, have completed forming their reconstruction association establishment promotion committees.
Yangcheon-gu said on the 17th that, under the Act on the Improvement of Urban Areas and Residential Environments, it approved the formation of the reconstruction maintenance project association establishment promotion committees for Mok-dong complexes 8 and 12 and will publish the notice on the 18th.
Among the Mok-dong New Town apartments pushing for reconstruction, complexes 8 and 12 are the first cases where a promotion committee has been established.
Starting at the end of June, complexes 8 and 12 followed procedures to form the promotion committees through "public support services," including resident briefings, the election of preliminary promotion committee members, and the collection of consent forms.
The two complexes completed forming the association promotion committees 73 days after the launch of the services. This shortened a process that typically took about five months by more than half.
Mok-dong complex 8 is expected to be transformed through reconstruction from the existing 15 stories and 1,352 households into new apartments up to 49 stories with 1,881 households. Mok-dong complex 12 is expected to be reborn as new apartments up to 43 stories with 2,810 households, up from the existing 15 stories and 1,860 households.
According to Yangcheon-gu, eight other complexes that have completed designation as maintenance zones have not yet finished collecting resident consent forms. Mok-dong complexes 1–3 and 11, which are before maintenance zone designation, are pushing the project with a goal of designation within the year.
The maintenance plan for Mok-dong complex 11 was approved with amendments by the Seoul City Urban Planning Commission earlier this month. Mok-dong complexes 1–3 plan to undergo review by the Urban Planning Commission within the month.
