The Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC) 2025, which helps domestic construction companies expand into overseas markets, will be held on the 16th.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 14th that GICC will be held for three days at the Westin Seoul Josun Parnas Hotel in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, starting with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. that day.
Hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the International Contractors Association of Korea, GICC invites key overseas infrastructure figures, including ministers, Vice Ministers, and client chief executive officers (CEOs) from around the world, to build networks. It is also a key stage for overseas construction expansion where concrete project consultations and cooperation plans are discussed.
This year, a total of about 500 figures will attend, including 26 ministers, Vice Ministers, and CEOs from 30 countries, the 10 leading domestic construction companies, and public institution officials.
Minister Kim Yun-deok of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, together with 1st Vice Minister Lee Sang-gyeong and 2nd Vice Minister Kang Hee-eop, will hold multilateral meetings and bilateral talks with overseas infrastructure ministers and Vice Ministers, including Ukraine's deputy prime minister for reconstruction and minister of communities and territories development, and Peru's minister of transport and communications. They plan to actively engage with overseas figures, carrying out order-winning diplomatic activities to expand our corporations' entry into overseas markets in areas such as railroads, roads, airports infrastructure, urban development, and plants.
On the first day of the event, 10 key figures, including ministers from each country, will gather for presentations and a multilateral meeting on infrastructure cooperation plans. Vice Minister Lee Sang-gyeong will be the first panelist and is expected to say, "Korea plans to invigorate investment development projects and official development assistance to strengthen infrastructure cooperation with countries around the world." Kim Bok-hwan, president of the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND), will present "K-infrastructure global cooperation in partnership with the world." The multilateral meeting will then continue in a format where infrastructure leaders from each country exchange views on major projects for which they hope to cooperate with Korea.
On the second day, a rail and road session will be held to promote the high level of technology of our corporations and strengthen exchanges with overseas clients, taking into account demand for urban rail, special bridges, and smart roads, which are drawing strong interest at home and abroad. Second Vice Minister Kang Hee-eop is expected to say, "For overseas projects to be tendered in the future, we hope to share Korea's accumulated construction, operation, and maintenance experience and superior technology in rail and roads so we can achieve mutual growth."
In addition, Bangladesh, Mauritius, and Tajikistan will explain major projects such as rail and road bridge construction and urban rail construction projects and seek ways to cooperate with Korean corporations.
There will also be a global energy transition forum, a corporations roundtable for postwar infrastructure reconstruction cooperation, one-on-one business meetings, and project briefings.
First Vice Minister Lee Sang-gyeong said, "Through this year's GICC, we will actively support our corporations' entry into the overseas infrastructure market by building close cooperative relationships with key countries, promoting our corporations with outstanding capabilities, and obtaining new business information from overseas clients," adding, "We plan to make every effort to support orders for our corporations so that we can achieve this year's $50 billion order target."
