A worker who was cleaning at the construction site of the Ulsan North Port LNG terminal, which Daewoo E&C is constructing, died in an accident.
According to Daewoo E&C and others on the 5th, a worker in his 40s suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed around 2:50 p.m. the day before while cleaning the floor on the deck plate of tank 3 at the Ulsan North Port construction site. At that time, there were a total of 8 workers on site, and 3 were cleaning the floor.
When the worker, referred to as A, collapsed, his coworkers reported to 119 and moved him to the top of the tank. A was immediately transferred to Ulsan National University Hospital for emergency treatment but died around 8:50 p.m.
A representative from Daewoo E&C expressed, "First of all, I extend my deepest condolences and apologies for the precious life lost at our Ulsan site," and noted, "Currently, an autopsy is scheduled, so we will need to wait for the results to determine the exact cause of death.
He continued, "Regardless of the autopsy results, we plan to mobilize all our resources to overhaul the site health system to ensure that such accidents never happen again," adding, "We will actively cooperate with investigations by relevant authorities to identify the exact cause and will provide all necessary support to the victim and their families while maintaining a responsible attitude."
