Hyundai E&C recently announced that it has obtained an additional first-grade certification for floor impact noise barrier performance from the Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) on the 3rd.
Hyundai E&C has secured the first-grade technology for reducing floor noise, becoming the first in Korea. Furthermore, it simultaneously acquired two first-grade certifications in the evaluation of floor impact noise performance using enhanced criteria and assessment methods.
The floor system that verified the first-grade performance can effectively absorb a variety of everyday noises such as walking, running, moving furniture, and dropping objects, due to its optimal combination of cushioning materials and laminated structure. The soundproof material has been changed to a lighter material with greater flexural rigidity compared to previous options, facilitating onsite work, and technology was additionally applied to ensure the stability of the floor under various usage conditions of residents. This has simultaneously improved performance, constructability, and floor quality.
This evaluation was conducted through the LH Quality Test Certification Center, which is designated as a performance recognition institution by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Notably, it demonstrated the reduction performances of lightweight impact noise at 25 decibels (dB) and heavy impact noise at 32 dB through a field demonstration method, rather than laboratory measurements where discrepancies may occur. This recognition evaluation lowered the heavy impact noise by 5 dB compared to the first-grade standard (37 dB), achieving a reduction of more than 20 dB compared to the bare floor.
After obtaining first-grade certification in 2022 for all five floor structures in lightweight and heavy impact noise tests, Hyundai E&C has focused on advancing technology through its composite research facility 'H Silent Lab.' As a result, it successfully commercialized first-grade technology for reducing floor noise and applied it to the D.H. Daechi Edelweiss, which was completed in the first half of this year. By conducting surveys on resident satisfaction in multi-family housing where floor noise reduction technology has been applied, it is establishing a virtuous cycle of research, development, verification, and field application.
Hyundai E&C is the only construction company in Korea that has installed its self-developed first-grade floor system in an actual apartment. Based on this competitiveness, it has established an integrated solution package called 'H Silent Solution Package' that combines not only the floor system but also layout structures, low-frequency and vibration control technology, and noise detection algorithms related to floor noise.
An official from Hyundai E&C noted, 'As floor noise has emerged as a social issue, Hyundai E&C has secured the highest grade certification in both new and old evaluations, enhancing brand trust for 'quiet homes.' We will realize the value of 'residential spaces free from noise' and raise industry standards through continuous high-performance technology development, onsite verification, and quality enhancement.'
