Kolon GLOBAL announced on the 29th that two specialized technologies have been selected for the '2025 Smart Construction Technology Demonstration Support Project' organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Smart Construction Technology Demonstration Support Project is designed to support the demonstration of technology at construction sites for the commercialization of smart technology. This year, a total of 15 projects were selected in six areas, including construction automation, digital sensing, and smart safety. Among them, Kolon GLOBAL's dedicated smart safety system for tower cranes and specialized drone station technology for islands were included, securing technical support.
Kolon GLOBAL plans to apply the dedicated smart safety system for tower cranes in the Cheongju Southeast private participation public housing construction project and the specialized drone station in the construction project of National Road 77.
The dedicated smart safety system for tower cranes selected in the smart safety area is a technology that records tower crane working conditions in detail and enhances the function of managing wire ropes. By utilizing this technology, it will be possible to collect data on various parts of the tower crane and detect defects such as breaking, wear, and corrosion at an early stage.
The specialized drone station selected in the digital sensing area can remotely perform earthworks calculation, construction progress monitoring, and quality control by linking aerial data collected by drones to a construction management platform in real-time. Additionally, by incorporating 3D visualization technology, it allows monitoring of construction progress without having to visit the site, being evaluated as a groundbreaking technology that transforms the paradigm of construction management in island areas.
A representative of Kolon GLOBAL noted, 'Through this demonstration project, we plan to address the technical support needed at the site with smart construction technology, aiming to lead the digital transformation of the construction industry by merging advanced technology and construction know-how.'
Kolon GLOBAL has applied over 280 digital-based technologies such as drones and BIM across 68 active sites nationwide. Kolon GLOBAL aims to enhance productivity by 25% and reduce safety accidents through site digitalization by 2030, in accordance with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's smart construction roadmap.
