The Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 28th that it has signed a business agreement with Namyangju City for the establishment of an integrated public rental childcare HUB pilot district.
The "integrated public rental childcare HUB" is a project to create a community-oriented, open childcare-friendly space within an integrated public rental housing complex. It aims to provide open care, learning, and play services that can be used by any resident. LH is promoting the establishment of the "integrated public rental childcare HUB" to respond to the low birth crisis and strengthen childcare infrastructure in the community.
The pilot project site is located in Namyangju Wangseok Block A-3 and A-10. Block A-3 will include a comprehensive support center for youth that provides counseling and care services. Block A-10 is expected to feature a family center that offers family counseling and co-parenting services, as well as child protection agencies.
According to the agreement, LH will be responsible for the design and construction of the childcare HUB space and plans to provide it to Namyangju City free of charge after completion. Namyangju City will be responsible for the establishment, operation, and overall management of the related facilities within the childcare HUB.
"The childcare HUB is a new model for responding to low birth rates and creating child-friendly residential environments," said LH President Lee Han-jun. "In the future, LH will continue to work closely with local governments to lead the expansion of community-based childcare infrastructure."
