The area around buildings 15, 17, and 18 of the Najin Market in the Yongsan Electronics Market in Yongsan District, Seoul, will be transformed into a hub for future new industry innovation.
Seoul announced on the 26th that it had revised and approved the proposed plan for the 'Yongsan district unit plan amendment and detailed development plan for special planning zones 7 and 8 in the Yongsan Electronics Market' at the 14th Urban and Architecture Joint Committee meeting held on the 25th.
Building 15 (special planning zone 7) and buildings 17 and 18 (special planning zone 8) on the east side of the Yongsan Electronics Market are the second location to have its detailed development plan determined, following buildings 12 and 13 (special planning zone 5) of Najin Market in Yongsan. There are a total of 11 special planning zones in the Yongsan Electronics Market area, of which detailed development plan proposals have been submitted in 6 zones, with projects underway.
Special planning zone 7 will be constructed as a building with 8 basement floors and 21 above-ground floors (total floor area of 27,627 square meters and a floor area ratio of 949%), while special planning zone 8 will have 8 basement floors and 27 above-ground floors (total floor area of 155,367 square meters and a floor area ratio of 975%), featuring facilities for new industries, such as AI and robotics, along with community amenities.
According to the public contribution plan, a second veterans' center and a public parking lot (406 vehicles) will be built. The second veterans' center will be constructed with 9 above-ground floors and is expected to be completed by 2030 after going through building permit procedures this year. Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, revealed the plan for the second veterans' center in a meeting with veterans' organizations in June, and specific plans were announced two months later.
Jo Nam-jun, head of the Urban Space Headquarters of Seoul, said, 'The area around the Yongsan Electronics Market will transform into a hub for new industry innovation that enhances Seoul's urban competitiveness.'
