On the 25th, DL Construction announced that it won the contract for the 'Hongcheon Pumped Storage Power Plant Units 1 and 2 Civil Engineering Work' ordered by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
In this project, DL Construction participated as part of the Daewoo E&C consortium (Daewoo E&C, DL Construction, Hyosung). DL Construction's equity in this is 30%, with the contract amount being approximately 184.6 billion won.
The 'Hongcheon Pumped Storage Power Plant Construction Project' is a large-scale national project being pursued in the Pungcheonnari area of Hwacheon-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province. The project entails constructing a pumped storage power plant with a total capacity of 600 MW (300 MW × 2 units), expected to be completed in December 2032.
The scope of the project includes the construction of upper and lower dams, an underground power plant, a power waterway, various tunnels, and access roads to the upper area. The main structures consist of the upper dam (height 92.4m, length 564.2m), the lower dam (height 66.5m, length 320.0m), and one set of the power waterway and underground power plant.
Pumped storage power generation involves storing water in an upper reservoir during times of low electricity demand and then releasing it to generate electricity when demand surges. It plays a role in complementing the intermittency of renewable energy and enhancing the stability of the power grid.
A DL Construction official said, 'This project is an important national project that can simultaneously achieve the expansion of renewable energy and the stabilization of the power grid,' adding, 'As a member of the consortium, DL Construction will prioritize safety and carry out the construction without any setbacks to contribute to the expansion of national energy infrastructure.'
In the latter half of this year, DL Construction is expanding its business competitiveness by consecutively winning various projects, including ▲Hongcheon Pumped Storage Power Plant Units 1 and 2 ▲Gwangmyeong-Siheung Public Housing District S2-4 and 6BL ▲Electrical supply power duct construction in Seongnam.
