On the 20th, Hanwha Construction Division announced on the 22nd that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Technical Education Center and the Jung-gu Office of Seoul for "construction technology education and improving the environments of aging stores."
The signing ceremony, held in the large conference room on the 17th floor of the Hanwha Building in Janggyo-dong, Seoul, was attended by Jeon Chang-su, head of human resources support at Hanwha Construction Division, Kim Kang-yeol, head of the Seoul Technical Education Center, and Song In-sang, head of the Economic and Cultural Bureau of Jung-gu Office.
This agreement was established to support the expansion of field experience for trainees in the construction sector and to enhance their employment capabilities. A total of about 50 trainees will take regular courses at the eastern campus of the Seoul Technical Education Center and will work on improving the environments of aging stores in Jung-gu, Seoul, based on the skills they acquire with Hanwha Construction Division.
The 'building maintenance' and 'digital content design' programs at the eastern campus of the Seoul Technical Education Center will run for five months from September to January of next year, with each course lasting 620 hours. The 'building maintenance' course will cover the construction field, including tile work, masonry, plastering, painting, and furniture and woodworking, while the 'digital content design' course will teach advertising, packaging, signage, and 3D content production using computer software.
Hanwha Construction Division plans to promote the environment improvement project for aging stores together with the trainees, which includes ▲custom design consulting for stores ▲optimizing customer flow and space utilization ▲interior renovation work ▲replacing signs, banners, and menus. The Jung-gu Office of Seoul will select the target stores through recruitment announcements, and Hanwha Construction Division will supply the materials needed for the store improvements.
Jeon Chang-su, head of human resources support at Hanwha Construction Division, said, "Based on Hanwha Group's management philosophy of 'Together, Far,' we aim to cultivate technical personnel through collaboration between corporations and local governments and provide solutions needed in the region," adding, "We will gather the capabilities of each institution and develop them into a model case of mutually beneficial cooperation."
Kim Kang-yeol, head of the Seoul Technical Education Center, noted, "I expect this to be a practical opportunity for the trainees to simultaneously build their field responsiveness and project execution experience," and added, "I hope this program contributes not only to the cultivation of quality construction personnel but also to the development of the domestic construction industry."
