Hyundai E&C announced on the 18th that it will place the artworks of emerging artists within the complex.
On the 14th, Hyundai E&C held the awards ceremony for the 'S.H.A.A' (Seoul National University Institute of Cultural Arts Hyundai E&C Art Awards) public art competition at Seoul National University's auditorium.
The second S.H.A.A public art competition, this year, is a collaboration project co-hosted by Hyundai E&C and Seoul National University's Cultural Arts Institute, planned to add artistic value to residential spaces. It invites various genres of works, including painting, sculpture, craft, and media, from students at Seoul National University to discover the creativity of young artists.
Prominent attendees at the ceremony included the selected artists and teams, Choi Kwang-ho, head of architectural housing design at Hyundai E&C, Park Gwi-sung, team leader of the exterior team, Lee Jung-sik, director of the Cultural Arts Institute at Seoul National University, and Park Je-seong, vice dean of the College of Fine Arts.
On that day, the grand prize was awarded to the sculptural work 'On Caring' by Jeong Eun-hyung. The piece symbolizes a child growing comfortably and equally in the arms of a parent and embodies the meanings of warmth, bond, and protection.
The excellence award went to Kim Ji-su's 'EUZY', and Kwon Hyun-bin's 'Blue Memory', while the outstanding award was given to Kim Tae-hoon's 'World Remix', Kim Young-mi's 'Shiver', and the joint work 'Mist Totem' by Kwon Jeong-ryun and two others. The prize money awarded was 5 million won for the grand prize, 3 million won for the excellence award, and 1 million won for the outstanding award.
Hyundai E&C will install the six awarded works selected this time at 'The D.H. Daechi Edelweiss', 'Hillstate Lake Songdo 4th', and 'Hillstate Hwanho Park', expanding the opportunities for residents to enjoy artworks in the landscaped spaces within the complex. The five works that won in the first competition were installed in the 'Olympic Park Foreon' complex.
A representative from Hyundai E&C noted, 'We are uncovering emerging artists and contributing to the development of public art through active industry-academia cooperation, while creating outdoor spaces that combine landscaping and art.' They added, 'We will continue to enhance our brand value and expand opportunities for participation and experience in creative activities through various cultural arts support programs.'
