SK ecoplant significantly improved its profitability this year in the second quarter, thanks to strong performance from its semiconductor subsidiary.
SK ecoplant announced on the 14th that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter was 152.7 billion won, an increase of 118.8% compared to 69.8 billion won in the same period last year.
Revenue during the same period was 3.1887 trillion won, up 44.7% from 2.2039 trillion won in the second quarter of last year.
In the first half of this year, cumulative results showed revenue of 5.7992 trillion won and operating profit of 209.6 billion won.
Revenue increased as SK ecoplant saw growth in the semiconductor sector, particularly from the Cheongju M15X project and the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster Phase 1 project.
The profitability also improved as strong performances from the semiconductor module company Essencore, which was incorporated as a subsidiary last year, and the industrial gas manufacturer SK Air Plus were reflected in the results, especially in the context of enhancing comprehensive services for the semiconductor sector.
SK ecoplant plans to continue its growth by rapidly expanding its portfolio centered on high-value-added industries.
A representative from SK ecoplant said, "In alignment with the group's core growth strategy, we intend to secure stable revenue based on differentiated competitiveness in related business sectors such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers."
