Hoban Construction announced on the 6th that it will introduce the artificial intelligence (AI)-based defect management integrated platform 'Chadel' in new rental complexes to manage defect handling quickly and systematically.
The key feature of the newly introduced defect management integrated platform, AI Checker, was co-developed by Hoban Construction's open innovation team and the home tech startup 'Eum'.
This platform is equipped with multimodal AI technology that processes a variety of data, including images and language, allowing it to manage the entire defect handling process from defect reception to classification and repair operations seamlessly in new rental complexes.
When a manager captures an on-site defect, AI Checker recognizes the image and categorizes the defect types. The automatically classified defects are then forwarded to specialized contractors for repair. Managers can monitor the progress and results of repairs in real time and inform residents of the completion schedule.
With the ability to automatically classify defect types that were previously manually sorted one by one, the workload of the operational departments has been reduced, enabling quicker handling. Analyzing the aggregated data can also improve the defect handling process and enhance quality.
Kim Jae-eun, head of Hoban Construction's open innovation team, noted, 'By introducing the latest technology on-site, we have been able to strengthen quality management significantly.' She added, 'We are currently developing our smart residential integrated app 'Hoban On' (HOBAN ON) and plan to provide resident environment improvement services that combine AI in the future.'
Hoban Construction is applying various new technologies on-site to enhance smart construction technology. In collaboration with the drone specialist company 'Komafer', it has applied AI video analysis technology to detect major defects in advance throughout the construction process. In May, it completed a pilot test of a wall painting robot at the 'Hoban Summit Incheon Geomdan Block AB19' site.
