According to the industry on the 5th, vice president Song has been appointed as the new president of POSCO E&C. He is a figure who recently took on the role of Head of Team of the Safety Special Inspection Task Force directly under POSCO Group Chairman Chang In-hwa and is a 'field-oriented' safety expert with key positions related to safety and the environment at the Gwangyang Steelworks and Pohang Steelworks.
Vice president Song served as the head of safety and disaster management at Gwangyang Steelworks in 2014 and as the deputy head in charge of safety and environment at Pohang Steelworks in 2018. He then completed the Chief Safety Officer program at the Graduate School of Public Health at Catholic University in 2021, and has worked as the Chief Safety Officer (CSO) of POSCO E&C for three years since that year.
Meanwhile, President Jung stated in a statement on the same day, "As president, I deeply feel great responsibility for the series of serious industrial accidents and will step down, taking full responsibility."
