It has been determined that a worker was involved in an accident presumed to be due to electrocution at the construction site of the Gyeonggi Province Gwangmyeong-Seoul Expressway, overseen by POSCO Engineering & Construction.
Around 1:34 p.m. on the 4th, a man in his 30s with Myanmar nationality, referred to as A, was found in cardiac arrest at the first section of the Gwangmyeong-Seoul Expressway private investment project in Okgil-dong, Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi Province. A was reportedly transported to the hospital while unconscious.
This incident occurred less than a week after Jeong Hee-min, CEO of POSCO Engineering & Construction, issued a statement of apology regarding a series of fatal accidents.
Earlier, POSCO Engineering & Construction had temporarily halted all on-site work for safety inspections; however, it has been confirmed that work at the site where the accident occurred resumed that day.
A representative from POSCO Engineering & Construction stated, "The cause of the accident is currently under investigation," adding, "All on-site work was suspended on the 28th of last month, and safety personnel from the headquarters conducted a special inspection, and work at this site resumed that day."
Meanwhile, a total of four fatal accidents have occurred at POSCO Engineering & Construction worksites this year.
