Samsung C&T has ranked first in the construction company's capability evaluation for 12 consecutive years. The second and third places are held by Hyundai E&C and Daewoo E&C, respectively.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport conducted the construction capacity evaluation for 2025 for 73,657 registered construction companies that applied for evaluation, and announced the results on the 31st.
The construction capacity evaluation is a system that comprehensively evaluates and publicly announces construction performance, management status, technical capability, and credibility to help the client select an appropriate construction company. The evaluation results are used for restricting bidding qualifications, selecting construction companies, credit evaluation, and guarantee reviews.
This year's construction capacity evaluation results show that Samsung C&T ranked first with 34.7219 trillion won. It has maintained the top position for 12 years since 2014. Samsung C&T ranked first in all items of the construction capacity evaluation except for technical capability evaluation.
Next, Hyundai E&C ranked second with 17.2485 trillion won, while Daewoo E&C secured third place with 11.8969 trillion won. Both companies achieved the same results as last year.
The fourth place went to DL E&C (evaluation amount 11.2183 trillion won), and the fifth place was taken by GS Engineering and Construction (10.9454 trillion won). Both DL E&C and GS Engineering and Construction moved up one rank in the construction capacity evaluation compared to the previous year.
Hyundai Engineering, which was among the top five construction companies last year, dropped to sixth place due to a major accident that temporarily halted new contract activities. Its construction capacity evaluation amount is 10.1417 trillion won.
Following that, Posco E&C (9.8973 trillion won) ranked seventh, Lotte Construction (7.4021 trillion won) ranked eighth, SK ecoplant (6.8493 trillion won) ranked ninth, and HDC Hyundai Development Company (5.8738 trillion won) recorded tenth place.
Among the top 100 companies in this year's construction capacity evaluation, the most significant rank change was for Mirae Do Construction, which ranked 76th (379.9 billion won). This construction company climbed 172 ranks in one year. The company that experienced the most significant drop in rank was IS Dongseo (583.6 billion won), which fell 37 places compared to last year.
In the civil engineering sector last year's construction performance was led by Daewoo E&C (2.4573 trillion won), Hyundai E&C (1.9187 trillion won), and SK ecoplant (1.5457 trillion won).
In the architecture sector, Samsung C&T (12.3184 trillion won), Hyundai E&C (9.4246 trillion won), and Hyundai Engineering (9.3027 trillion won) were the top performers.
In the industrial and environmental facilities sector, Samsung E&A (13.2514 trillion won) took first place, followed by Hyundai Engineering (4.4301 trillion won) and Hyundai E&C (3.9405 trillion won).
In the landscaping sector, Jeil Construction (72.6 billion won), Samsung C&T (65.1 billion won), and Jungheung Togeon (43.5 billion won) achieved high performance.
